Division of Fish and Wildlife officers recently rescued a deer caught on the ice at Haven Lake in Milford.

Officers used a small boat to break the ice and herded the doe back to shore, said Sgt. Gregory Rhodes of the Division of Fish and Wildlife Enforcement.

The doe collapsed in the water near the shore, and officers pulled her to safety. Officers checked on her condition throughout the day and by midafternoon she recovered and returned to the wild, Rhodes said.

The doe swam back to shore after officers broke a channel for her. (Source: Submitted)
