Delaware Small Business Chamber expands statewideMixer to take place Aug. 20 in Smyrna
The Delaware Small Business Chamber, the state’s only chamber focused solely on the small business community in the state of Delaware and surrounding communities, has expanded into all three counties. In the organization’s first year, it attracted close to 100 new members all wanting to be part of the chamber that was designed to help these owners become a stronger voice to be recognized by local, county and state leaders and to be part of a networking program that gets these owners in front of decision makers.
In its first year, the Delaware Small Business Chamber hosted networking mixers, more than 60 unique referral programs known as the 6-top Mingle, Business to Business events and the Business to Consumer Expo. This year, the chamber is doing all of those same programs and adding the DSBC Classic & Family Poker Run Sept. 8 and the Delaware Consumer Expo & Marketplace Oct. 5.
Bob Older, president and founder of the DSBC, said, “We plan on doing every program in New Castle County as well as Kent and/or Sussex counties. We really want to be a real statewide organization with monthly programs both up and down state.”
The Delaware Small Business Chamber offers members a better way to save on expenses such as payroll, health benefits, insurances, credit card processing and other products and services to lower members' core expenses. It also now offers up to 72 events statewide included in the price of membership.
“We don’t think members should pay twice, once as a member and then again to participate,” Older said. In the last couple months, the Delaware Small Business Chamber held mixers at the Dover Sheraton, Betty Lou’s Restaurant in Milford and 1776 Steakhouse in Rehoboth. On Aug. 20, there will be a mixer at Odd Fellows Café in Smyrna.
The Delaware Small Business Chamber also offers a program for consumers to call and request a product or service and the chamber will refer qualified companies to the consumer under the Need-a-Service program on the website.
