Demand growing for charging stations

By Dean Dey | Jun 07, 2014

Local public charging stations would be a draw for others coming into the area, and could even charge for the service. Every driver has access to maps showing all charging stations. In my car, the locations are built into the navigation system and updated frequently. Drivers are attentive to those offering the stations, and more likely to visit and shop where charging stations exist.

Over 50,000 Leafs have been sold in the U.S. and 110,000 world-wide. Tesla, Chevy, and Toyota all have plug-in models that are readily available. BMW, Ford and other makers are beginning to make electric and plug-in hybrid cars available.

On the east coast, Atlanta and Washington, D.C. are the fastest growing markets for electric vehicles. As an area dubbed the "Nation's Summer Capital," it would seem to me that charging stations would serve as an additional selling points for our area.
