Dewey property owners being harassed

By Brandi Sullivan | Oct 25, 2013

What on earth is wrong with Dewey Beach?  I read the Cape Gazette article published last week about  the town threatening to revoke the business rental license of the owner at 114 Chesapeake while outright refusing to answer the question of exactly how the property owners are out of compliance.

I find it terribly odd that these property owners would be put through this action when apparently they were already subject to a board of adjustment hearing, and the complaint was dismissed. These property owners deserve finality and the right to be free from what appears to be harassment.

The town apparently went out and inspected the property during construction and told the property owners to continue with construction and then after construction the town approved the project as completed. Now months later the town changes its mind?

It is not difficult to conclude that something is very wrong and off balance in Dewey Beach. Any property owner who does any renovation in Dewey Beach should worry. Is there a role for the council in ensuring fairness to property owners?
