Dimitra Yoga to hold class, party and fundraiser March 21
The Dimitra Yoga instructors-in-training and owner Dimitra Kotanides invite the community to their studios for a yoga class and celebration party at 5:30 p.m., Friday, March 21.
Following the donation-based class, Kotanides has planned a celebration party and fundraiser featuring live music from Jimmy Keane, a live auction, drinks and refreshments in a fundraiser to benefit the organizations her teachers-in-training are supporting with the yoga karma component of training.
Each of the organizations is volunteer-based, nonprofit and exists because of the generosity of others, Kotanides said, and Dimitra Yoga has set a fundraising goal of $20,000 for this event.
The local and international organizations that will benefit from yoga karma training include the Marine Education, Research and Rehabilitation Institute in Lewes; Rebuildingtogether.org, an organization that provides critical repairs and renovations for low-income homeowners across the United States; the Africa Yoga Project, a 501c nonprofit that seeks to empower Kenyans through yoga, education in prisons, schools, special needs centers and HIV and AIDS support groups; and Support of Siblings, an organization founded by Rehoboth Beach siblings to provide care packages filled with toys, games and snacks for the siblings of children who are chronically ill. Their group offers support and understanding for this unique group of youth who very often must take a back seat to the overwhelming needs of a sibling.
Karma Yoga is “the path of union through action.” In yogic tradition, this translates into service to others within the community.

“Come celebrate the amazing work all the yogis in our community are doing by supporting our yoga teacher trainees,” Kotanides said. “The beautiful Dimitra Yoga Karma Project keeps on spreading the love from our community and into the world!”
