The Dover Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Donald Buxton will launch the second half of its 2013-2014 season on Sunday, March 23, 2014, 3:00 p.m. at the Rollins Center at Dover Downs in Dover.

The orchestra will perform Mendelssohn’s Hebrides Overture and Beethoven’s Symphony #5.  Our featured soloist, Phillip Sawyer, will perform Vivaldi’s Concerto in D for Strings and Lute on classical guitar.

Mr. Sawyer began studying guitar as a young child in the 1960s at the Blair Academy of Music in Nashville, founded by his father.  He performed publicly until his mid-twenties and then took a break, developing his career as a medical physicist.  Five years ago he returned to his music, and the DSO is honored to present him as our soloist.

Admission prices are Adults--$20, Seniors/Students/Military--$15.  Children under 16 are free with a paying adult.   Tickets are available now--call 302-270-1903. For further information check out the DSO website--www.doversymphony.org.
