The Dover Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Donald Buxton will launch the second half of its 2013-2014 season on Sunday, March 23, 2014, 3:00 p.m. at the Rollins Center at Dover Downs in Dover.
The orchestra will perform Mendelssohn’s Hebrides Overture and Beethoven’s Symphony #5. Our featured soloist, Phillip Sawyer, will perform Vivaldi’s Concerto in D for Strings and Lute on classical guitar.
Mr. Sawyer began studying guitar as a young child in the 1960s at the Blair Academy of Music in Nashville, founded by his father. He performed publicly until his mid-twenties and then took a break, developing his career as a medical physicist. Five years ago he returned to his music, and the DSO is honored to present him as our soloist.
