DRA offers tools to restaurant owners for exchange notification deadlinesToolkit will assist in meeting Oct. 1 deadline
The Delaware Restaurant Association has developed the Health Care Law Primer to help guide restaurateurs through implementation of the Affordable Care Act. The toolkit, directed specifically to restaurant owners, was made available through a member mailing and on the DRA website.
Among other provisions, the healthcare law requires employers to notify all employees with basic information about state benefit exchanges, including letting employees know that they may be eligible for federal tax subsidies to buy health plans through the exchanges. Starting in 2014, employers will be required to provide employees with the same information within 14 days of hiring.
The Health Care Law Primer contains a 28-page guide from the National Restaurant Association detailing the new healthcare laws and all upcoming deadlines, and calculators for determining the number of full-time employees. Also included is information about the Oct. 1 notification deadline and templates for the notification and employee records.
“As exchanges begin to unfold under the healthcare law in the coming weeks and months, the DRA will continue to expand the resources and tools we provide to help our members navigate the complexities of the law,” said Carrie Leishman, president and CEO of the Delaware Restaurant Association.
The DRA toolkit is available for free as a member benefit, or can be purchased by nonmembers.
