Drunken gestures end in charges
A Laurel man recently released from prison was arrested Sept. 11 after Rehoboth Beach police say he was drunk and made a shooting gesture at a store owner.
Paul N. Caldwell, 34, was walking along the second block of Rehoboth Avenue at 2 p.m. carrying a large bottle of alcohol and cursing, said Rehoboth Beach Police Chief Keith W. Banks.
He entered one business and used his hands to pretend he was firing a shotgun toward the store owner, Banks said.
Police found Caldwell lying on the floor in the rear of Downtown Cowgirl, Banks said.
He was charged with third-degree criminal trespass, public intoxication, disorderly conduct, menacing and resisting arrest. He was committed to SCI in default of $3,200 secured bond.
Banks said Caldwell had been released from SCI Sept. 10, a day before the incident.
