Sussex Technical High School senior Brinleigh Parsons of Lewes received the Young Water Fowler of the Year Award from the Eastern Sussex Chapter of Ducks Unlimited.

This award is given annually for an Eastern Sussex young person who displays an extreme effort for wetlands conservation.

Parsons was honored for her work in developing the first high school chapter of Ducks Unlimited in the East at Sussex Tech.

Assistant Principal Dr. Loriann White and teachers Scott Layfield and Dean Johnson have also been instrumental in leading Sussex Tech students in supporting wetlands conservation.

Ducks Unlimited is the world’s largest and most effective private waterfowl and wetlands conservation organization.

In the fall of 2012, the Eastern Sussex Chapter made the Top 100 list as one of the organization’s best fundraising chapters out of more than 2,700 Ducks Unlimited chapters nationwide.
