Eagles are still alive as they get ready for drama-filled Tampa Bay
For the last two weeks my Eagle predictions have all been right. The Eagles made a good showing this past weekend except for the first defensive stand in their win against the New York Giants. This win actually puts them in a first place tie with Dallas in the NFC East. Dallas lost to Denver in a crazy contest, 51-48, making it one of the highest scoring games in NFL history. This weekend the Eagles play the drama- filled 0-4 Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The media has been making a big deal about their starting quarterback being cut from the team and how much the players are hating on their coach, Greg Schiano. The Eagles will be bringing their own drama with Nick Foles having to step up as quarterback after Michael Vick suffered a hamstring injury in the second quarter of last week's game.
The NHL season just started, so I didn't expect to be talking about the Flyers this soon. What are they thinking?! They fired their coach, Peter Laviolotte, after only three games? If that was their plan, why didn't they fire him in the off-season? What an embarrassment to him. To me that's like firing a baseball manager after one inning of a game or a football coach after the first quarter of a game. Even with this mess, I will still look forward to the remainder of the hockey season. It goes on too long for me to give up on them this early.
As was expected in the golf world this last weekend, the U.S. team won the Presidents Cup for the fifth consecutive time. The final score was 18 1/2 to 15 1/2. It was a close competition for most of the event until Sunday morning when the U.S. won four out of five of the last team matches. Going into the single matches on Sunday, the U.S. had a strong lead at 11- 6. The weekend play got chopped up multiple times thanks to a weather system that brought heavy showers off and on all weekend. It's pretty remarkable that they were able to finish on Sunday, bringing a close to the major golf events for this year.
