Several of the artists concentrated on sunrise over the Atlantic. Each work has its unique emphasis on a view, a color palette and a style.

An oil by Joyce Condry titled “Another Day Begins” concentrates on the sky over the ocean.  Blue and lavender clouds are lightened by a warm yellow path of sun reflecting on the sky and in the wet sand. Accents of small birds along the shoreline complete the image.

In Dale Sheldon’s acrylic “Quiet Sunrise,” she emphasizes the reflective quality of the sun on the water. This elongated horizontal composition shows a small bright orange ribbon of sky across the top of the painting; below is the ocean broken by gentle waves in changing colors of blues, greens and pale rose. Sheldon says this is a spot she has painted before at other times of day, but with the early sun she found new excitement.

Lesley Mc Caskill’s “Sunrise at Cape Henlopen” depicts a favorite spot of hers. She interprets the deep space of rolling dunes leading to the ocean as viewed from above. There the sun reflects a bright gold against an ultramarine sea. Within the dunes, tall beach grasses and plants casts interesting shadows on the sand.

Painted from memory, “Watching the Waves” is a lovely watercolor by Dianne Shearon showing the variety and grace of waves as they break on the shore.

“Daybreak,” a watercolor by Cheryl Wisbrock, shows the beach access at 5th Street in Bethany. Here Wisbrock paints the glow of the early morning in the sky with a contrast of a shady path leading to the beach.

From a yearly trip to Maine, Pat Riordan has painted “Morning has Broken.” In this painting Riordan shows light rising over the horizon reflecting on the water and a dock.

Sonia Hunt, who has visited many foreign countries, has painted a lovely watercolor of Tasmania which she titles, “Early Morning on Wineglass Bay."

“The Green Heron” is Anne Hanna’s art work for this show. She and this bird bonded one early morning several years ago when Hanna rescued it from being caught in a crab pot.

These are just a few of the art works that will be on display at Gallery One.

The public is invited to visit Gallery One to view this show and see the other art work: jewelry, pottery, textiles, wood, photography and glass. Gallery One also offers art classes for adults and children throughout the summer.

Gallery One is always staffed by one of the artists and is open daily, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., at 32 Atlantic Ave. in Ocean View just a short drive west of Bethany Beach.
