East Coast Garden Center named to Revolutionary 100 list for 2014
East Coast Garden Center joined the ranks of the horticulture industry’s top independent garden centers when it was named one of Today’s Garden Center magazine’s Revolutionary 100 Garden Centers for 2014.
The Revolutionary 100 program, which began in 2006, surveys garden center owners and managers and culminates in a listing of the 100 most revolutionary garden centers in the nation. It is open to all independent garden centers, large and small, and is based on leadership and innovation, not on size or revenue.
After the Revolutionary 100 are chosen, the top five are selected from across the country; East Coast Garden Center has been among the top five two years in a row.
“Since the creation of East Coast Garden Center, my dream was to be a destination for enjoyment, education, and great plants. Being a Revolutionary 100 validates that we are well on our way,” says Valery Cordrey, owner.
In the process of selection, garden center owners and managers across the United States fill out an extensive online questionnaire covering topics such as customer and community service, management philosophy, marketing, use of technology, purchasing and profitability.
“The garden centers that made this year’s list are an exceptional group of forward-thinking, independent retailers who thrived during a tough economy, which helps their community,” says Today’s Garden Center editor Carol Miller. “We are proud to call them revolutionary.”
The 2014 Revolutionary 100 Awards program is sponsored by one of the premier industry suppliers for plants, HGTV Home Plants Collection, and the national association for the garden industry, AmericanHort.
