East Coast Garden Center posts April events, travel and classesFlower and Arts Festival April 27 and 28
East Coast Garden Center offers a slate of events in April to celebrate the arrival of spring.
Tune Your Palate: Cooking with Paul Cullen will take place at 6 p.m., Thursday, April 14. This is an innovative cooking class from the former Bad Company bassist who artfully blends his passions for cool music, jazzy wine and divine cuisine into one signature event.
Cullen will demonstrate how to make his Italian cuisine including handmade ravioli, gnocchi and ricotta cheese, all while pairing his delicious wines and playing an intimate concert to finish the night. There will also be an Artisan Cheese tasting/demo with Andy Meddick of Morgan and Gower Cheesemongers and handmade breads from Old World Breads. All-inclusive price is $30 per person.
Big Band with Mario Rocco will rock to the oldies, swing and sing to Sinatra Friday, April 19. Doors open at 6, showtime is 7 p.m.. Lite fare. $30 pp, $55 per couple.
A Flower and Arts Festival is set for 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday and Sunday, April 27 and 28. The weekend includes new spring plants and local artists who demonstrate, exhibit and sell their art. Families will enjoy face painting, hot dogs and more.
For travel enthusiasts, Beyond the Garden Gates and Tulip Walk at Longwood Gardens comes Saturday, April 20. There will be demos, classes and discussions. Independent lunch, independent time. Cost is $49 pp. Bus departs East Coast Garden Center at 7:30 a.m. and Lowe's, Lewes at 7:45 a.m. Departs Longwood 3:30 p.m.
April classes include the following: 1 p.m., Saturday, April 6: Daylilies with Dave Guleke, president of the Delaware Valley Daylily Society, $5 pp; 10 a.m., Tuesday, April 16: Gardens Big & Small: Butterflies & Hummingbirds, $5 pp; 11 a.m., Saturday, April 27: Cooking with Herbs, free (part of Flowers and Arts Festival); 1 p.m., Sunday, April 28: Starting a Home Garden, free (part of Flowers and Arts Festival).
