The Eastern Sussex Democrats celebrated club founder Betty Hurdle’s 80th birthday April 27 at Fish On in the Villages of Five Points, Lewes. Hurdle has contributed to the club and Sussex County for many years. Hurdle wanted the celebration to be a fundraiser to support all of the local Democrat campaigns for office this year.

Tributes from the House of Representatives, Gov. Jack Markell, Lt. Gov. Matt Denn, Sussex County Council, along with letters from Sen. Tom Carper and Attorney General Beau Biden were presented to Hurdle.

Shown is the Eastern Sussex Democrats President Peter Schott presenting Hurdle with a plaque commemorating her years of service. Shown applauding Hurdle in the back are (l-r) Marie Mayor, Dick Byrne, Heather Hayes, Rochelle Cohen and Lise Haupt.
