Clothes 2 You Cleaners, a company with environmentally friendly dry cleaning alternatives, has acquired the spacious Peninsula Dry Cleaners in Seaford and plans to make it the company’s new headquarters.

The purchase, completed in early 2013, makes it the seventh dry cleaners to join the Clothes 2 You Cleaners family since the company was purchased by Matt Parks and Fernando Guajardo in 2006. None of their facilities use the solvent perchloroethylene, which contains chemicals and toxins that are potentially harmful.

“From the beginning, we set out to offer Delawareans an alternative to the dangerous use of perc. With each store that we buy, we eliminate the emission of more toxins and the spread of human carcinogens,” said Guajardo, the company’s chief executive officer.

Clothes 2 You Cleaners now has locations in Rehoboth Beach, Bethany Beach, Millsboro, Milford, Seaford, Princess Anne, Md. and Salisbury, Md. Plans continue to add new locations and expand route services for busy people who want to eliminate the chore of dropping off and picking up their clothes.

Earlier this year, the parent company also launched a division for environmentally friendly residential and commercial cleaning called Clean 4 You.

Dry cleaning consumers can choose to have their clothes wet-cleaned, utilizing computer-controlled washing machines, biodegradable soaps and conditioners, and specialized equipment for the many different fabric and fiber types. Or they can select a hydrocarbon option, which is considered less toxic and a much safer dry cleaning option.

“We’re offering clients the best of both worlds,” Guajardo said.

Clothes 2 You Cleaners was the first Delaware cleaner to provide wet cleaning. According to the Environmental Protection Agency, wet cleaning is the safest alternative to dry cleaning as it does not use hazardous chemicals, generate hazardous waste or create air pollution.

While going green, Clothes 2 You also provides signature customer care including pickup and delivery services, which Guajardo said will grow to cover all of southern Delaware by the end of 2013.

Clothes 2 You also provides same-day cleaning and alterations in Seaford, folding and packing services for dress shirts, take-down and rehang services for drape cleaning, a wide selection of tuxedos from Jim's Formal Wear and Sarno & Son Tuxedos, preservation of wedding gowns and shoe repair.

“We believe that dry cleaning should be a high-touch service in which we are not only caring for our clients’ garments but also cleaning other household items, including curtains, rugs, carpets and even homes,” Guajardo said.

Clothes 2 You Cleaners is conveniently located in the Midway Shopping Center north of Rehoboth Beach, 302-645-6660; 757 Garfield Parkway in Bethany Beach, 302-537-1646; 664 N. DuPont Blvd. in Milford, 302-424-2250; 26670 Centerview Drive in Millsboro, 302-934-6100; and 815 Norman Eskridge Highway in Seaford, 302-629-7319. Locations in Maryland are 12302 Summerset Ave. in Princess Anne and 815 South Salisbury Blvd. in Salisbury.
