Charles "Chaz" Gouert, a junior from Milton, has earned the highest-level Federal Communications Commission amateur radio license offered, that of amateur extra class.

In order to earn this license, he had to pass the exams for technician class and general class licenses before he sat for the extra examination with FCC volunteer examiners at the Bethany Beach Fire Department Jan. 20.

Amazingly, he achieved these licenses all within the span of one month.

Gouert is majoring in electronics at Sussex Tech.  He is shown working on the two-way radio.
