Ellendale man critical after ATV accident
An Ellendale man is in critical condition after he was thrown from his ATV July 28 while turning onto Route 16.
Frederick J. Everitt, 22, was driving a Honda Rubicon four-wheeler southbound on Webbs Road approaching Route 16 when he failed to stop at the intersection. He turned eastbound on Route 16 in front of a pickup truck driven by David R. MacGregor, 23, of Ellendale, said Master Cpl. Gary Fournier of the Delaware State Police.
The pickup hit the rear of the ATV; the impact ejected Everitt, who was not wearing a helmet, onto the roadway, Fournier said. He was taken to Christiana Medical Center where he is in critical condition.
MacGregor and a 27-year-old passenger were properly restrained; they were treated and released from Milford Memorial Hospital for nonlife-threatening injuries, Fournier said.
