Elton and Wilma Caraway of Georgetown celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary Dec. 28, 2013, at Grace Baptist Church in Seaford. A reception was given in their honor by their daughter, Jenna Caraway of Dallas, Texas, and their son and daughter-in-law, Gerald and Roseann Caraway of Georgetown and their adult children, Amber and Travis.

The event, catered by JoyFull Catering, began with a program that opened with prayer by Jack Maddox of Seaford. Entertainment was provided by Jenna Caraway and her puppets Doris Darling, who gave marriage advice, and Gloria, the singing six-foot ostrich. The guests also enjoyed a picturesque slideshow of Elton and Wilma’s journeys around Europe, enhanced by two original songs, "My Texas Sweetheart" and "Kisses for Dessert." The lyrics were written for the celebration by Elton’s niece, Kristen Whitaker of Waynesville, Mo. Jim Lindley of Odenton, Md., read "Love Happened in ’53," a poem written by author and poet Eva Maddox of Seaford.

Elton and Wilma were married Dec. 19, 1953, in the parsonage of the Tabernacle Baptist Church in Lubbock, Texas, by the Rev. Ben D. Johnson.
