Epworth presents artist Jeffrey Todd Moore exhibit 'Life Is a Beach Ball'

Reception slated April 27
Apr 23, 2014

The Visual Arts Program at Epworth Church announces a new exhibit of original art. Artist Jeffrey Todd Moore's new show, Life is a Beach Ball, will be on display at the Scott Chapel Gallery in Epworth United Methodist Church, 19285 Holland Glade Road, Rehoboth Beach, from April 27 through May 28. There will be an artist reception from 9:30 a.m. till 12.30 p.m. Sunday, April 27.

“I wanted to do something different and something bright and fun,” Moore said about the show. “Many of the pieces are created using different mediums and with completely different approaches. There is landscape photography, manipulated photographs, abstract digital art, stained glass panels and glass on glass mosaics. There may be some painting as well. The unifying element is that each piece includes a beach ball. It is about color, shape and texture.

“The last show I did at the Scott Gallery involved miniature watercolor paintings and photographs of churches. This is a lot different, but I think this show shares elements and tone of last year’s show. I tried to lend a little gravitas to the beach ball, while keeping the overall feel light and airy, like the beach ball itself. I had such a great experience the last time, I want this to be just as good. And I'm including pieces made out of glass, a skill acquired since I was here before,” he added.

Moore lives in Dagsboro and is a native of the state. He lived in California for 14 years, where he performed and founded the performance art group Beggarman, Thief. After moving back to Delaware, he began doing origami as a hobby, and that blossomed into watercolor painting, digital photography, and now stained glass art. He makes his living as a computer draftsman.

His work can be seen at The Artful Bean in Bethany Beach, Proud Bookstore in Rehoboth, at many of the area's art festivals and in his home on the Southeastern Delaware Artist Studio Tour held Thanksgiving weekend. His work will also be on display as a part of the Bigg Picture Show at the Biggs Museum in Dover this May 17-July 20.

The gallery is open during regular church hours. For further information contact Epworth United Methodist Church at 302-227-7743 or go to www.eumcrb.com.
