Exotic mushrooms and duck eggs featured at Milton Farmers Market every Friday
The Milton Farmers Market on the corner of Union and Magnolia streets in historic Milton brings more than 20 vendors to the grounds from 3 to 6 p.m., every Friday with a range of fresh and wholesome foods for table, pantry and freezer. The market provides plentiful free parking both on street and in the lot on Magnolia Street.
Davidson’s Exotic Mushrooms will be on hand June 6 with four high quality varieties to tempt shoppers. Portabellas, the largest, measuring up to six inches in diameter, deliver a deep meat-like flavor and texture when grilled, broiled or roasted. Crimini mushrooms are baby portabellas, with a light tan to rich brown cap; and like portabellas, they add an earthy flavor and firm texture when sautéed, broiled, or even microwaved. The shiitake variety imbues a rich and woodsy complexity when added to stir-fry dishes, pastas, and soups. Oyster mushrooms have a delicate taste and are best sautéed and added to cream or white wine sauces. Visitors can stop by Davidson’s tent to pick up cooking tips.
The Pig Man brings all-natural premium pork products from show pigs raised in Felton. These animals are fed quality grain feed and are never treated with growth hormones or steroids. The Pig Man brings baby back ribs, spare ribs, tenderloin and shoulder roasts each Friday to Milton, as well as scrapple. Other products available at the Pig Man’s tent include free-range brown chicken eggs and also free-range duck eggs.
Lavender Fields offers lavender-infused products for health, beauty, household and also cooking. Market patrons will find live lavender plants, dried bouquets, soaps, lotions, sachets, essential oils, and various culinary items including farm-collected honey, lavender-glazed pecans, beer bread mix, mustards, salsa, teas and coffee.
There’s always live music at the Milton Farmers Market and lots of delicious prepared food to bring home or consume at the shaded picnic tables by the performance area.
