Family-friendly performances set at Cape Henlopen State Park

Aug 06, 2013

Cape Henlopen State Park will be the setting for two free entertaining performances open to the public at the campground amphitheater.

On Wednesday, Aug. 7, Em McKeever will perform at 7 p.m. “Classical guitarist gone haywire,” McKeever captures her audiences with a blend of catchy lyrics and musical pizzazz. The Newark-based singer-songwriter entertains by playing the guitar, banjo, and other instruments in original songs varying from stinkbugs and horseshoe crabs to coffee.

On Thursday, Aug. 8, Bil Lepp will perform at 7 p.m. Lepp is an award-winning national storytelling champion, humorist, author and recording artist. He has entertained folks throughout the country sharing his hilarious tall tales to audiences of all ages.

Both programs are at the campground amphitheater. Non-campers can park in the campground overflow parking lot. Some seating is available, but folding chairs are recommend. Park entrance fees are in effect. Call the Seaside Nature Center at 302-645-6852 for information.

These programs are made possible, in part, by grants from the Delaware Division of Arts, a state agency dedicated to nurturing and supporting the Arts in Delaware, in partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts.

The Seaside Nature Center is open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and the Borrow-A-Bike program is available from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., weather permitting.

More information about programs offered at Cape Henlopen and all of Delaware State Parks can be found at destateparks.com.
