Fellow commissioners endorse Mauler, Riordan
We are writing to extend our endorsement and ask for your vote to re-elect Courtney Riordan and Gary Mauler for commissioner in Dewey Beach. The reason for our endorsement is straightforward: we all have and will continue to work well together making Dewey the best it can be.
While we don't always vote together on the issues (and this can be a good thing), we are all able to express our opinions, vote, and move on to other matters important to our constituents. Key to success and progress for our town is our ability to work well together.
Courtney and Gary both share a deep passion for Dewey Beach. They share our vision for a Dewey where everyone's right to quality of life is respected, and have a track record of working legislatively and in partnership with the business community to accomplish this vision.
We have developed a positive relationship with the Hyatt management and have been able to work in a cooperative spirit towards that project's completion where it will be an asset to the town.
Accomplishments during the past two years include many things such as a town-wide camera-based security system that is not only catching the perpetrators of many nuisance crimes, but also preventing them from happening in the first place.
Violent crime is down with some offenses such as assault reduced by more than 50 percent. Family friendly events like bonfires, movies and yoga on the beach have been implemented to a positive response from all.
Dewey already is a great town. Progress has been made on the quality of life issues we have, and more progress will be made during the next two years. All of us are committed to that. The path forward is a positive one with Courtney and Gary. They represent a realistic approach to improving on what is already a great beach town.
Thank you for your support.
