The Cinema by the Canal summer outdoor film series begins the 2014 season with “Frozen” at dusk (8:15-8:30 p.m.), Thursday, July 3, at Lewes Canalfront Park, 211 Front St. This film series for all ages is sponsored by the Rehoboth Beach Film Society and Friends of Lewes Canalfront Park.

Disney’s musical adventure “Frozen,” featuring princess sisters Elsa and Anna, is a fairy tale of how love can thaw even the chilliest of hearts. When Elsa’s frosty powers trap a kingdom in eternal winter, Anna teams up with mountain man Kristoff to put an end to her sister’s icy spell. Encountering magical trolls and a scene-stealing snowperson, Anna and Kristoff must fight the elements to try and save their home, Arendelle from frigid destruction. Kyle Smith of the New York Post wrote, “Frozen is a great big snowy pleasure with an emotionally gripping core, brilliant Broadway-style songs and a crafty plot.”

Admission is free. Attendees should bring chairs or blankets. For more information, go to www.rehobothfilm.com.

The mission of the RBFS is promoting cinematic arts and providing education and cultural enrichment for the community. The film society sponsors monthly screenings, special events, and the Rehoboth Beach Independent Film Festival (Nov. 5-9, 2014). The Rehoboth Beach Film Society is funded, in part, by a grant from the Delaware Division of the Arts, a state agency dedicated to nurturing and supporting the arts in Delaware, in partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts.
