Film society and Kids Cottage to present children's cinema event Aug. 15

Aug 12, 2014
"Bink and Gollie" is one of the stories to be presented at the Children's Cinema Corner event Aug. 15.

The Rehoboth Beach Film Society and Kids Cottage will co-present a Children’s Cinema Corner event from 6 to 10 p.m., Friday, Aug.15. The event will be held at Kids Cottage, 35448 Wolf Neck Road, Rehoboth.

The evening will include screenings of popular children’s films from Scholastic Publishing along with a variety of fun crafts and film-inspired activities. Children will be supervised by employees of Kids Cottage of Rehoboth and Rehoboth Beach Film Society.

The theme is friendship, feelings, and problem solving. The short stories to be screened are “Bink and Gollie,” featuring two friends who find it hard to agree on anything; “Each Kindness,” in which a teacher shows how even small acts of kindness can change the world; “I Want My Hat Back,” presenting Bear who can’t find his hat until another animal helps him remember where it might be; “Blackout,” in which  a young boy finds out how much fun not normal can be; and “Chrysanthemum,”  in which a little mouse thinks her name is perfect until she starts school and all the kids make fun of her. These films are provided courtesy of Weston Woods, a division of Scholastic Corporation, the world’s largest publisher and distributor of children’s books and a leader in educational technology.

The cost is $10 per family, and preregistration is required; call Kids Cottage at 302-644-7690.
