Film society series starts Jan. 18

The Rehoboth Beach Film Society will begin its "What Makes Us Tick?" series Friday, Jan. 18 at 7 p.m. with "The Savages." The movie is rated R and features Laura Linney, who earned an Academy Award nomination for this wry and wrenching story of a sister and brother (Philip Seymour Hoffman) who reunite over an issues familiar to many: their father can no longer take care of himself. After the film, Beth Joselow, a psychotherapist based in Lewes, will lead a discussion.
The second film, "In a Better World," will screen Saturday, Jan. 19 at 2 p.m. After the film, Charlotte King, a retired licensed clinical social worker, will lead a discussion.
The final film, "Pieces of April," featuring Katie Holmes, will screen Sunday, Jan. 20 at 2 p.m. After the film, Tom Ledbetter, a pastoral psychotherapist at Brandywine Pastoral Institute, will lead the discussion.
The series is open to the public. Admission for Rehoboth Beach Film Society members is $11 for each film, or $30 for the entire weekend. Tickets for the general public are $13 per screening or $36 for all three films. The price includes complimentary refreshments served prior to each film.
