A fire started outside of a Rehoboth Beach Yacht and Country Club home Jan. 16, singeing the outside of the home before firefighters extinguished it.

The fire started at 7:10 a.m. at a home on East Side Drive, said Jeff Blizzard, spokesman for the Rehoboth Beach Volunteer Fire Company.

Firefighters from Lewes and Indian River also responded and were there for about an hour, he said.

The fire started outside the home off a top deck and singed the siding. Flames did not reach inside the home, but some smoke did, Blizzard said. No one was home at the time of the fire.

"A neighbor spotted the fire and called it in," Blizzard said. "
