Firefly Music Festival is still four months away, but event organizers are already planning for a bigger crowd than last year.

According to Red Frog Events Communications Director Lauren Shield, more tickets were sold in the first hour of sales than in all of 2012.

“We exceeded 30,000 tickets sold yesterday, which was our 2012 total,” Shield said in a Feb. 22 email.  She said she did not know exactly how many tickets remained.

Tickets are now in the final price tier of $258 per three-day pass.

Firefly will be held Friday, June 21, to Sunday, June 23, at The Woodlands of Dover International Speedway.

“Firefly fans showed today how much they are sharing in our excitement for year two of the festival, and we can’t thank them enough,” said Firefly Director Greg Bostrom. “Today’s response in sales has exceeded our expectations. We’re working hard until June to bring Firefly back to The Woodlands on an even grander scale than our inaugural year.”

In a press release, Shield said on-site camping passes are also selling quickly. Firefly will offer a number of camping options for festival-goers, including “glamping,” which offers catered food, a private bar and a private entrance to stages at The Woodlands.

Shield said front row and general camping passes are nearing sold out, and other camping options, including RV and glamping, are limited.

The festival lineup was announced Feb. 19. Artists include Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Public Enemy, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Alabama Shakes, Foster the People and more.  For a complete list, go to fireflyfestival.com.
