First Delaware Nature Photo Contest kicks off June 21
The Delaware Nature Society is kicking off its 50th Anniversary Celebration by launching the Delaware Nature Photo Contest. As Delaware Nature Society reflects on half a century of connecting community with nature through education, conservation and advocacy, they would like to invite the public to showcase their experiences in Delaware’s natural world by participating in the Delaware Nature Photo Contest. The photo submission period starts June 21 and runs through July 31.
Photos can be submitted through Facebook or the Delaware Nature Society website. Thirty semifinalists will be selected by a community voting poll between Aug. 1-10. The winning semifinalist photographs will be announced on Facebook and the Delaware Nature Society website Aug. 15. Semifinalists will receive a Delaware Nature Society T-shirt and the semifinalist photographs will be displayed at Ashland Nature Center during the month of September.
Of the 30 semifinalist photographs, 13 photographs will be selected as finalists at the 50th Anniversary kickoff event Oct. 2. The 13 winning photographs will be featured in the Delaware Nature Society 2015 calendar and each of the winning finalist photographers will receive a yearlong membership to Delaware Nature Society.
Delaware Nature Society seeks digital photographs that feature the beauty and diversity of Delaware wildlife, plant life, people of all ages enjoying the outdoors and landscapes. The Delaware Nature Photo Contest is open to photographers 18 years of age or older of all skill levels. Photographs must be taken in the state of Delaware and may have been taken any time prior to or during the contest. Photographers may submit up to five digital photographs per theme.
