The mission of the First State Animal Center and SPCA is twofold:


by prevention of cruelty and suffering, rescue of the trapped or injured, emergency medical treatment, temporary housing for homeless animals and the reduction of homeless pet overpopulation through targeted spay/neuter and education programs.


through our serious commitment in placing only stable, safe and well-adjusted animals into homes where they will thrive while simultaneously educating the public about responsible pet guardianship.


Sapphire Needs A Home

This handsome female pitbull type is looking for a forever home. She was a stray, so we have no history for her. Do you think you could give her a great future? She has been spayed, vaccinated and microchipped. All pitbull type adults are $15.00 adoption special this month.

This older female dog is a bit cranky here at the shelter after being left here by her former owners. She is housetrained. She would love to be in a home with older adults, who can quietly let her live out her golden years. She has been spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped.
