Fishing photo contest winners announcedAccepting entries for hunting photo contest
The judges’ decisions are in, with five top entries chosen for the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control Division of Fish and Wildlife’s 2013 Delaware Fishing Photo Contest.
First place was awarded to “Emily’s First Bass,” by 15-year-old Christopher Halsey of Dover. Christopher took the photo of his sister, 11-year-old Emily Halsey, and her uncle Jason Gary, when Emily caught her first bass at Wagamons Pond near Milton.
In second place, “On the Rocks” shows Emily Halsey and her brother Christopher Halsey enjoying a day of fishing at the C&D Canal in New Castle County, taken by their dad, Daniel Halsey of Dover.
Honorable mention: “My First Fish,” of 4-year-old Angelica Tsai, showing off her first fish, a bluegill she caught in Carousel Park Pond near Wilmington. The photo was taken by her father, Jack Tsai of Wilmington.
Honorable mention: “Early Morning,” by Tammy Halsey of Dover, portrays her son Christopher Halsey fishing at Trap Pond State Park near Laurel.
Honorable mention: “Serenity at Sunset,” by Joey Melvin of Georgetown, catches his 3-year-old son Atticus Melvin pulling in his line at Collins Pond near Bridgeville.
The winning photos will appear in the 2014 Delaware Fishing Guide. The fishing guide will be available online, at the DNREC licensing desk in Dover, and at fishing license dealers statewide in early 2014.
The 2013 Delaware Hunting Photo Contest is accepting entries through Friday, Jan. 31, 2014. Entries may be mailed to the DNREC Division of Fish and Wildlife, Attn: Crystal Beck, 89 Kings Highway, Dover, DE 19901. All entries must be postmarked or delivered by Jan. 31, and must include a completed and signed entry form and photo release form, available at www.dnrec.delaware.gov/fw/Pages/FWphoto_contest.aspx and the Fish and Wildlife Facebook page (search Delaware Fish & Wildlife), or may be requested by calling Crystal Beck at 302-739-9911, or emailing firstname.lastname@example.org. Winning photos will appear in the 2014-15 Delaware Hunting and Trapping Guide.
