Five injured in early morning crash in Milford

Troopers are investigating a crash that occurred at approximately 2:45 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 30. Michael W. Walker, 29, of Milford drove a 1998 Buick Century and traveled southbound on Sussex 15 (Canterbury Road). As he neared the intersection at Sussex 14 (Milford-Harrington Highway), he failed to stop for a red light and struck the passenger side of a 2008 Nissan Altima operated by Danny R. Hudson, 45, of Lincoln, which was traveling eastbound on Sussex 14.

Walker was properly restrained at the time of the crash and was removed from the scene by EMS.  He was transported to Milford Memorial Hospital where he was treated for his non-life threatening injuries. Walker was cited by troopers for vehicular assault first degree, three counts of vehicular assault second degree, driving under the Influence of alcohol and failure to stop at a red light. Arraignment information for Walker is not yet available.

Hudson, who was properly restrained at the time of the crash, was also removed from the scene by EMS and transported to Milford Memorial Hospital where he was treated for his non-life threatening injuries. A 34-year-old Greenwood man, who was a passenger in Walker’s vehicle, as well as a 23-year-old Millsboro woman and a 43-year-old Lewes woman - both passengers in Hudson’s vehicle - were also removed from the scene by EMS and transported to Milford Memorial Hospital where they were treated for their injuries. All three passengers were properly restrained at the time of the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.
