For Art’s Sake to open Aug. 3 at Nassau Valley Vineyards

Jul 27, 2014
"American Dream" by Don Blow

During August, Nassau Valley Vineyards and Winery will host the work of award-winning artists Donald Blow and Anne Crown-Cyr. The exhibition, For Art’s Sake, will include a collection of new and familiar watercolor and oil paintings. Various prints will also be available for purchase.

Both Blow and Crown-Cyr are signature-level artists of the Delaware Watercolor Society. “We are very happy to be invited back to the Nassau gallery again this year for another joint show,” says Crown-Cyr.

Blow, a native Delawarean, is well known for his dry-brush Wyeth-like watercolors of farms and landscapes of Delaware, Pennsylvania, and Maine. He studied at the Hussian School of Art in Philadelphia and is a member of the Philadelphia Sketch Club. He currently resides in Smyrna. To see some of his work, go to www.donaldblow.com

Crown-Cyr is a native of Arlington, Va., who likes to travel and paint in places such as Provence, Ireland, Italy, and the Bahamas, as well as in Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, Maine, Arizona, and New Mexico. Her watercolors are often high-key, gestural impressions of a place; her oils rely on spontaneous brush work and palette knife with a more literal approach to subject matter. She has a degree in painting from the University of Delaware and lives in Rehoboth Beach. Visit her website at www.annecrownstudio.com.

The public is invited to the opening reception with award-winning wine and art from 3 to 5 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 3, at Nassau Valley Vineyards and Winery, 32165 Winery Way, Lewes. Winery and gallery hours are Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday from noon to 5 p.m. For more information call 302-645-9463 or go to www.nassauvalley.com .
