Fourth of July Celebration in Milton postponed to July 5Milton Farmer’s Market cancelled July 4
The “Bringing Mayberry Back to Milton” celebration in Milton will take place on Saturday, July 5, from 10 a.m. until 2 pm., rather than the Fourth of July due to inclement weather.
The many sponsors and volunteers of this event have a full day of fun-filled family activities planned for the Milton community and won’t let Hurricane Arthur stand in the way. This old-fashioned Picnic in the Park in Milton’s Memorial Park will offer lots of activities for kids of all ages! Activities include a dunk tank, sack races, pie baking contest, and games. A highlight will be a bike decorating contest and bike parade sponsored by Irish Eyes Pub and Restaurant. Grand prizes of two brand new bikes will be awarded to the winners - one each to the best boy and girl entries. In addition, there will be entertainment in the Gazebo, the Lions Club train will be running, food vendors will offer a variety of options, and there will be free ice cream.
Pie baking contestants should bring their pies to the Pie Bake Off Tent between 9 and 10 a.m. The Star Spangled Banner will be performed in the Gazebo at 10 a.m. to kick off the festivities. The sack races begin at 10:30 with the Bike Parade and judging taking place at 11. The Pie Bake Off winners will be announced at noon. The Goober Show Down at High Noon with water balloons will also take place at noon. Games, music, picnicking, and fun continue until 2 p.m.
The Farmer’s Market is cancelled for Friday, July 4. It is scheduled again July 11. There has been no announcement at this time regarding the Concert in the Park scheduled for July 4.
