Frank John Wilkerson, avid four-wheeler
Frank John Wilkerson, known affectionately to many as “Beef,” passed away Friday, Oct. 25, 2013.
He was born April 16, 1956, to the late Lorenzo B. Wilkerson, and Sylvia Rocker Wilkerson Fleshman, who survives him. He was a gentle kidder, who met regularly with the McDonald’s Gang to help solve all the world’s problems. He was endeared to his friends, and loved by his family.
He attended Indian River High School, and had worked for Zonko Construction as a carpenter until failing health forced his retirement. He was an antique collector, loved auctions and was an amateur expert of antique bottles. He was an avid four-wheeler and a clever, wry jokester with a dry sense of humor. Best of all, he gave his heart to God at Blackwater Fellowship Church, where he was a member.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his son, Fhilip Wilkerson in October of 2011. He is survived by his mother: Sylvia Fleshman, and his his stepfather, Albert Fleshman of Greenwood; a son: Freddie Wilkerson of Millville; and his siblings: Burt Wilkerson, and his wife Linda of Pineville, W.Va., David Wilkerson and his wife Loretta of Fruitland, Md., and Sylvia Casteel and her husband Greg of Hemit, Calif. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles, along with many cousins, extended family members and friends, especially his “McDonalds friends.”
A funeral service, and Celebration of His Life will be held Friday, Nov. 1, at 1 p.m., at Watson Funeral Home; 211 S. Washington St., Millsboro. Friends may call for viewing and visitation one hour prior. Pastor Dennis Bradford will officiate. Interment follows in Redmen Cemetery, Dagsboro.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to help offset funeral expenses to: Frank Wilkerson Funeral Fund, c/o Sylvia Fleshman, P.O. Box 720, Greenwood, DE 19950.
