Friends of Lewes Public Library say thanks
Thank you to everyone who joined us for the Lewes Public Library fall book sale. It was one of our largest book sales ever and a great success!
We had well over 100 volunteers contribute many hours to get the book sale set up for our Friends’ Preview Night on Friday and the public sale on Saturday. As the saying goes, many hands make light work. It always is true of the library book sales sponsored by the Friends of the Lewes Public Library.
We are especially grateful to the members of the Cape Henlopen High School Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps students, and the adult leadership of that organization, who made the movement of thousands of books possible at the start and close of the book sale.
On behalf of the board of the Friends of the Lewes Public Library, I would like to express our sincere appreciation for the generous support of the following businesses: Auntie M’s Emporium, Baker’s Exxon, Books in a Trice, Café Azafran, the City of Lewes, and Grand Rental Station. A special thank you goes to the vendors who supported our Biblio Bistro with delicious coffee and bagels: Café Azafran, Notting Hill Coffee Roastery and Surf Bagel.
The library display case advertising our book sale was extra special this time! Rocket Signs’ generous printing coupled with Laura Jarman Byrum’s creativity received countless compliments and drew attention to the sale. The board also would like to thank Mike Tyler for keeping our sale banner aloft. Finally, our sincere appreciation goes to all the volunteers who provided family favorite baked goods for us to sell.
In case anyone missed our Friends merchandise table at the book sale, Friends’ T-shirts, with our new, colorful logo, have been produced by Marsha’s, and now are available for purchase at the library. The cost is $15 (cash or check) and all proceeds go to the library.
Donations for our spring book sale will be accepted starting Thursday, Sept. 26. Don’t forget to mark your calendars for our next sale Saturday, May 3, 2014!
