Garden center to celebrate holidays with slate of events
Art for the Holidays Nov. 14 starts the season
Celebrating Thanksgiving and Christmas, East Coast Garden Center offers a range of events for crafters, decorators, shoppers and cooks tailored to the holiday season.
From 2 to 5 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 14, is Ho! Ho! Ho! Art for the Holidays! Participants will paint a Santa gourd or a pot for holiday flowers. Basic class; brush experience required; cost is $10 per person plus $22 materials fee.
At 6:30 p.m., Friday, Nov. 16, David Ehrhart and Marty Austin of Williams Sonoma will offer Cooking and Decorating for the Holidays. Participants will make miniature “appeteasers” and desserts from savory to sweet, served up in shot glasses and Chinese spoons. They will also learn how to make mini floral arrangements in miniature and unique containers and vases - great for decorating or for gifts. $28.
Mon., Nov. 19, with the arrival of a large display of fresh greens and poinsettias for the holiday season, the center offers a Photo Op display for personalized holiday cards.
At 11 a.m., Tuesday, Nov. 20, Karen Fox will teach about Thanksgiving Table Centerpieces. There is a fee for this class.
From 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 27, in Girls, Gifts and Good Tidings, an annual event, local crafters, artisans, and foodies bring their wares, and local shoppers bring their lists. This event supports local artists and business people so shoppers can keep it local this Christmas.
From 6:30 to 8:30, Thursday, Nov. 29, is a class in making a gingerbread house or wreath. Fee is $12 per person plus $10 materials fee.
At 10 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 1, decorate a fresh wreath for the holidays with Karen Fox. Fee is $25.
From 6 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 6, Andrea Rash, trained pastry chef, will offer Christmas Cake Decorating, sharing tips and techniques to make holiday desserts lovely to look at and delicious to taste. Participants will decorate a cupcake with fondant flowers. Cost is $12 per person plus $8 for materials.
At 2 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 8, Dave Ehrhart will offer a Holiday Centerpiece Decorating Demonstration. There is a fee for this class.
From 4 to 6 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 8, the East Coast Garden Center hosts a Christmas Open House and Customer Appreciation. There will be wine tasting and light fare as the center says "Thank you and happy holidays!"
At 10 a.m., Thursday, Dec. 13, Barbara Busch of the East Coast Garden Center will offer How to Make and Decorate a Natural Wreath. This is a hands-on class making wreaths and decorations from nature’s products. There is a fee.
