Georgetown branding revealed: 'Georgetown. Well Rounded' new design
Ben Muldrow of Arnett Muldrow & Associates Ltd. presented the designs developed as part of the Georgetown Branding Initiative June 11. In attendance were the Georgetown Town Council, state, county and local economic development leaders, members of the Georgetown Chamber of Commerce and interested citizens. The presentation culminated two days of intense focus groups aimed at creating a consistent image package for the community and its partners to be used for building local pride, recruiting investment into the community, and marketing Georgetown to visitors.
As the reveal was made, Melody Booker-Wilkins, business development leader, Delaware Economic Development Office, commented, “I am truly blown away by such an amazing presentation. What an exciting day for Georgetown.” Mayor Bill West welcomed the presentation and the materials presented. “This will certainly add momentum to the other positive things we have going on in town,” he said.
During Muldrow’s presentation, he expressed thanks to all the focus group participants and methodically walked through the steps involved in the development of the branding. Materials presented included a color palette reflective of Georgetown, typefaces capturing the historic character of the town and artwork of the Sussex County Courthouse, highlighting its prominence on the Circle. All of these elements were combined and visually presented for use in promotional materials, special event advertisement and extension of the branding for use by group such as the farmers market, merchant association and other event organizers.
Later that evening, during the regular town council meeting, the mayor and council voted to adopt the new Town Seal as presented and embrace the entire branding strategy.
Funding for this initiative included the Town of Georgetown, USDA Rural Development and the Delaware Economic Development Office through the Main Street Program.
