Gerard Austin 'Jerry' Dalsey, retired master printer
Gerard Austin “Jerry” Dalsey, 80, of Titusville Fla., formerly of Waldorf, Md., died Monday, Aug. 26, 2013, at the Delaware Hospice Center in Milford.
Jerry served proudly in the U.S. Coast Guard. He was a master printer for the Government Printing Office and State Department. He retired as a school bus driver in Brevard County, Fla. He was a member of the Franklin Technical Society and Foreign Affairs Recreation Association (FARA). Jerry was also a member of St. Teresa’s Catholic Church in Titusville and a former parishioner at Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church in Waldorf, Md. He was an avid Redskins fan, a member of the VFW, enjoyed the beach and spending time with family and friends.
He was the son of the late Bernard Raymond Dalsey and Helen Colwell of Haddon Township, N.J. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Agnes Dalsey; son Brian Dalsey; brothers Bernard (Ben) and Francis (Frank); and sisters, Margaret Richardson, Rita Szpakowski and Eleanor Giffins.
He is survived by his brothers John (Jack ) and Thomas (Tom) and sister Mary (May) Straley; daughters, Pat Lawton and her husband John of Frederick, Md., Peggy Gaestel and her husband Dave of Milton, Bridget Dalsey of Ellendale, Mary Davis of Mechanicsville, Md., Susan Hack and her husband John of Olney, Md., and Kathi Donnelly and her husband Shaun of La Plata, Md.; sons, Jerry Dalsey and his wife Brenda of Waldorf, and Ted Dalsey and his wife Crystal of Oceanside, Calif. He is also survived by 21 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at St. Joseph’s Church, Pomfret, Md. from 5 until 6 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 7. A funeral Mass officiated by Father Mark Smith will follow at 6 p.m.; immediately following the Mass will be a reception held in the church reception hall. Interment will be at Cheltenham Veteran’s Cemetery, Cheltenham, Md.
