Go to the debates and make decisions

By Dixie Boucher | Jun 27, 2014

I attended the debate between Paulette Rappa and Rep. Ruth Briggs King hosted by DMHOA. These two ladies are in the race for the representative seat in the State Legislature for the 37th District in Sussex County.

This was very informative. I know debates can sometimes be boring, but going to see and hear them is how you as a voter can become informed. People like us can no longer afford to be the silent majority. We are losing our country to special interest organizations, bought and paid for politicians who do not truly represent us or follow the will of the people who elected them, and groups of private citizens who have their own agendas to promote,

Please, get out of your easy chairs and attend these debates and forums and then vote! If every person who has uttered the words "my vote doesn't matter, I don't bother," actually did vote (armed with information from attending debates and forums) do you know what a difference it would make? Have you looked at the percentages of non-voting people in our elections, local and national? It is shameful, and embarrassing.

Get involved and vote. It can make a difference if we all do it. Thank you to the candidates and DMHOA for this debate. I am very glad I attended.

It may even have affected my vote in this election.
