If you like golf and you like to eat - and you like to support worthy organizations - the Touch of Italy-Pru Gallo Realtors Foundation has just the thing for you.

The foundation will host its first Golf Eating Outing Thursday, May 9, at The Peninsula. Sponsored by NuCar's Lewes Auto Mall, the event combines great golfing and great eating to benefit the Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition, the Delaware Prostate Cancer Coalition, and the Outreach and Psychosocial Services of Beebe Medical Center's Tunnell Cancer Center.

In addition to 18 holes of golf on the Jack Nicklaus-designed Peninsula Golf Course, the Golf Eating Outing will start with a 9 a.m. breakfast featuring fresh bagels and lox from Surf Bagel and other assorted breakfast specialties from New York City. After a shotgun start at 10 a.m., golfers will take a break for lunch with assorted hot and sweet sausage and pepper heroes and hot dogs from Biancardi's of Arthur Avenue in New York.

After more golf in the afternoon, players will assemble at The Peninsula clubhouse for cocktail hour and dinner which will include a seafood raw bar, 16-ounce New York strip steaks and four-pound lobsters.

Hey, it is all about golfing and eating.

Cost for the benefit is $300 per golfer or $1,200 for a foursome. Those who want to eat but not play golf can buy a $100 ticket for the lobster and steak dinner. Other sponsorships are also available. Send checks to Andrew Ratner, Prudential Gallo Realtors, 37230 Rehoboth Ave., Rehoboth Beach, DE 19971 or for more information contact Bob Ciprietti at 1-914-906-0175. Forms and sponsorship information are also available at touchofitaly.com.

The Touch of Italy-Pru Gallo Realtors Foundation organized in 2010 and staged the first Opera at the Beach event to benefit deserving local charities and organizations. Organizations benefiting from the foundation's efforts in subsequent years include Autism Delaware, Cape Henlopen Educational Foundation, CAMP Rehoboth, Lewes-Rehoboth Rotary Arts Scholarships, Margaret F. Rollins School of Nursing at Beebe Medical Center and Coastal Concerts. The foundation has also supported individual scholarships to high school students pursuing performing arts in college.
