Good Green Gardening set for Jan. 18 at Lewes Public Library

Extension educator Carrie Murphy will present Good Green Gardening: Backyard Composting and More from 10 a.m. to noon, Saturday, Jan. 18, at the Lewes Public Library, 111 Adams Ave.

The fee is $17, but paid Delaware Botanic Gardens members may attend free. Participants will learn how to implement gardening techniques that help create and sustain an attractive, low-maintenance, healthy and productive garden in any environment. Topics will include backyard composting, water conservation, integrated pest management, and native plants.

Murphy is an extension educator in horticulture and Master Gardener coordinator at New Castle County Cooperative Extension. Her special interests include sustainable landscapes, organic gardening, backyard composting, vegetable gardening, community gardens, and local food production and access.

This presentation is one of a series sponsored by the Delaware Botanic Gardens at Pepper Creek, whose mission is to create a world-class, inspirational, educational, and sustainable public botanic garden in southern Delaware for the benefit and enjoyment of the public.
