The Delaware office of Griswold Home Care, the world’s oldest, multinational nonmedical home care company, has announced that caregiver Alderine Joy Anderson-Starkey received the Pride Award for Professional Recognition in Dementia Excellence.  Anderson-Starkey was presented with the award by the Delaware Valley Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association in recognition of superior service to people suffering with dementia. Only one winner is chosen from each of the 18 counties served by the chapter, which encompasses Delaware, southern New Jersey and southeastern Pennsylvania.

Griswold Home Care Delaware Regional Director of Sussex and Kent County Office Cheryl Jankowski noted the importance of this award: “Griswold Home Care refers many highly qualified caregivers throughout Sussex County, and it was difficult to single out just one to nominate. Alderine did remarkable work with a client living with dementia."

David Bulkley, the son of one of Griswold's clients, said, "Please know that Alderine is very special and has been a gift of God to our family and especially to my mom. Her compassion and exemplary service made her this year’s nominee.” The award was presented at a ceremony held Nov. 13 in Dover at the 2013 Annual Delaware Dementia Conference. This is the 10th year in a row a Griswold Home Care caregiver from Sussex County has won the award.
