Guild to offer one-day workshop on humor writingSaturday, Jan. 19, in the Cultured Pearl above Starbucks on Rehoboth Avenue
The Rehoboth Beach Writers’ Guild has announced that award-winning writer and publisher Fay Jacobs will teach a single-session seminar geared to all writers.
In Flash Comedy, to be held from 10 a.m. to noon, Saturday, Jan. 19, in the Cultured Pearl above Starbucks on Rehoboth Avenue, Jacobs will teach the essentials of writing short, humorous stories, essays and commentaries. Participants will discuss how to spin a great essay from a single idea, the art of exaggeration (and how much is too much) and how changing a specific word is sometimes enough to alter the tone of an essay. The two-hour class is $40 for RBWG members and $45 for nonmembers. Participants must register by Sunday, Jan. 13.
Jacobs writes a column in Letters from CAMP Rehoboth and has had humorous pieces in Delaware Beach Life, one of which was a 2012 recipient of an award from the International Regional Magazine Association.
