Harold D. Warrington, car enthusiast
Harold David Warrington Sr., 71, of Milton and Webster, Fla., passed away Saturday, Oct. 12, 2013, at the Delaware Hospice Center.
Harold was born in Milford, son of the late Cordia and Edna (Foskey) Warrington. He was a painter and retired from the I.U.P.A.T. Local 100 in 2000.
A car enthusiast, Harold was well known in the area for his love of cars and stock car racing. He enjoyed dirt track racing and raced in different divisions for over 30 years, most known for the modified and vintage divisions and his car No. 00. He also enjoyed street rods, especially his T-Bucket and 34 Ford. He was a member of local street rod clubs both in Delaware and his community in Florida. He also enjoyed riding motorcycles.
In addition to his parents, Harold is preceded in death by his wife, Minnie Q. Warrington; and siblings, Cordia and Frank Warrington, Betty Tice and Margaret Hudson.
He is survived by three children, Harold David Warrington Jr. of Lincoln, Tamara Faye Gainey and Dean R. Warrington, both of Milford; a brother, Harvey Warrington and wife Betty, of Redden; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday, Oct. 16, at 1 p.m., in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 416 Federal St., Milton, with visitation after noon. Burial will be in Cokesbury Cemetery, Georgetown.
