Harold J. Calvert, retired supervisor

Harold J. Calvert, 84, of Lewes, formerly of Carney’s Point, N.J., passed away Friday, Sept. 14, 2012 in Scranton, Pa.

He was born in Taylor, Pa., son of the late, James and Irene Calvert. Mr. Calvert was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy.

Harold retired as a supervisor with DuPont Chambers Works Plant in Deepwater, N.J. after 35 years of service. He was a member of Long Neck United Methodist Church, American Legion Post 28 and was a past exalted ruler of the Penns Grove Elks Lodge 1358.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Janet C. Calvert; a son, Harold J. Calvert Jr.; a brother, Gene Calvert; and a sister, Betty Marchak. He is survived by a son, Gary J. Calvert.

A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 22, at the Long Neck Chapel of Melson Funeral Services, 32013 Long Neck Road, Millsboro, where friends and family may call after 2 p.m. Burial will be held at noon, Monday, Sept. 24 at the Abington Hills Cemetery in Clarks Summit, Pa.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions in Harold’s name to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 163, Salisbury, MD 21805.
