Helicopter flies low for power line inspection
LEWES — A low-flying helicopter caught the attention of many people driving along Route 9 near Dairy Farm Road March 28.
The copter was in the Cape Region as Delmarva Power performs its annual transmission-line inspections across the peninsula.
Haverfield Aviation is handling these inspections via helicopter and will be flying over the Delmarva Power transmission system at low levels to inspect and document items that may require attention, said Matt Likovich, Delmarva Power media relations manager.
Locally, areas where transmission lines will be inspected include the Indian River area, Seaford, Harrington, Felton, Cheswold, Rehoboth Beach, Cool Spring and Laurel.
Haverfield will be flying a black helicopter with tail number N8373F. The inspections should last for another couple of weeks, Likovich said.
