Here's to that wonderful phenomena called the fog delay

By Sumner Spence | Jan 16, 2014

After almost 20 years of living in the Rehoboth/Lewes area I have never grown tired of the thrill of the two-hour fog delay. I have been out of school for 10-plus years and I still enjoy that news any foggy morning. It helps that I have so many friends that are now teachers. Just had to share that.

It's down to the final four for football and the start up of baseball with spring training only some 20 days away. The two conference championship football games have the best four teams in the league aiming for spots in Super Bowl XLVIII. The San Francisco 49ers and the Seattle Seahawks have dominated the NFC West. The Denver Broncos have clearly been the best team in the AFC conference this season. Last week's divisional games lacked excitement so I hope the championship games prove otherwise. It will also be exciting to watch The New England Patriots come up against the Denver Broncos this weekend. This could very well be Tom Brady and Peyton Manning's last important game against one another with their ages working against them to be here for another full season. A couple good games pre-Super Bowl never hurt.

In baseball news we aren't at the point where we are picking World Series hopefuls but the year is starting off with a story that everyone is familiar with. Alex Rodriguez was officially suspended for the entire upcoming season by an arbitration judge for allegedly using illegal substances within the rules of baseball. I agree with the length of his suspension as it's been presented given the amount of evidence that's been brought to the public's attention. Since Rodriguez is 38 years old, the judgment pretty much puts an end to his career. But the appeal will continue to keep him in the news.
