Holly Branch, NLAPW to hold live, silent auctions March 1

Fundraiser will support Young People's Scholarship Fund
Feb 19, 2014

Holly Branch, National League of American Pen Women Inc. will hold its Second Annual Artistic Excellence Young People’s Scholarship Silent Auction starting at 6:30 p.m. (preview 6 p.m.), Saturday, March 1, at the Dover Elks Lodge 1903, 200 Salisbury Road in Dover. Holly Branch members hope to raise $5,000 to encourage the arts - visual, music, writing and dance. One hundred percent of proceeds will go to the scholarships.

Several hundred items and services from Kent and Sussex counties and throughout Delmarva will be up for bid, including certificates or coupons for golf courses, lodging, salons, computer service, entertainment choices like skating and bowling, a variety of restaurants, car washes, jewelry, art and much more. There will also be a bake sale.

Payment accepted is cash and checks only.  The silent auction ends promptly at 8:30 p.m.

There will also be a live art auction March 1 in the same location. Preview is at 6:30 p.m., and the auction starts at 7 p.m. for original artwork from Delmarva artists and from the Art Fusion fundraiser as well as prints. Art will be auctioned off by a Blue Hen auctioneer. Some of the artists who have donated work to this fundraiser are N. Taylor Collins, Joyce Lapp, Ramona Maziarz, K.M. Hammond, Carole Giarmo, Linda Chatfield, James Ranieri and Jeff White, among others. Live background music will be played by Sam Wright.

In 2013, the local businesses and patrons provided items and services that raised $2,500 cash, which was awarded to 12 Young People's Scholarship entries.

The Holly Branch, National League of American Pen Women Inc., thanks the Dover Elks Lodge 1903, Blue Hen Auctions, and the Dover Public Library for donating space to help promote this event.
