Glitz, glamour, paparazzi and more are coming to Milford Wednesday evening, Oct. 16, with its annual fall tradition, the Milford Community Parade. This year’s theme is Hollywood Fever.

"The parade, started in 1939, has been a favorite on the Delmarva Peninsula for its many marching bands, wonderful civic and business floats, and the hospitality of the entire community," said Charles Gray, parade chair. Milford Community Parades Inc. was organized under the direction of James Gray in the late 1980s to continue the tradition.

With the help of community members, family and friends, James Gray set out to make the parade a unique experience for those attending. Along the way, the committee fine-tuned the operation of creating a unique and widely popular event. Attendance has reached 30,000 in previous years with multiple bands as the parade's signature attraction. It has hosted university bands, high school and marching bands, and community bands.

Civic organizations, businesses, families and individuals that enter do not pay a fee; however, it is suggested that business entries offer a contribution or sponsorship. Civic and group floats, marching units, Girl Scout and Boy Scout troops, community leaders and individuals in costume are all accepted. The deadline for entries is Monday, Oct. 7.

Charles Gray said, "There is not an entry fee, and we do not send out invitations. Anyone that wishes to participate may visit our website at www.milfordparade.com for an entry form." Interested groups or individuals can also find the Milford Parade on Facebook. For sponsorship information, email milfordparade@aol.com with Sponsorship in the subject line.
