IMC-Lewes presents meditation weekend Oct. 4 and 5Inexperienced, beginning and experienced meditators all welcome
Insight Meditation Community of Lewes will welcome returning meditation teacher Luisa Montero-Diaz Friday and Saturday, Oct. 4 and 5, for an evening Dharma talk and full-day meditation retreat on the 2013 topic, Buddhism in Everyday Life - Living the Dharma. Inexperienced, beginning and experienced meditators are all welcome to attend this weekend of learning to live in the present moment.
Montero-Diaz has been practicing vipassana meditation since 1987 and teaching meditation since 1993. She completed the three-year Community Dharma Leadership program sponsored by Spirit Rock Meditation Center. She currently teaches a weekly meditation class in Takoma Park, Md., and leads daylong and weekend retreats in the Washington, D.C. area.
The Dharma talk followed by discussion and refreshments will be held from 7:30 to 9 p.m., Friday at St. Peter’s Parish Hall in Lewes. The meditation retreat will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday at the Biden Center in Cape Henlopen State Park. Dharma talk, sitting and walking meditation, light stretching and a vegetarian lunch are included. If attendees would like to, they may bring a dish to share.
The suggested donation for Friday’s talk is $10. The suggested retreat donation is $45, which includes lunch. For those with limited income, 50 percent, or any amount of the suggested donation offered is welcome. If budget does not allow for a donation, simply show up; no explanation is needed.
St. Peter's Episcopal Church Parish Hall is at 211 Mulberry St. near Second Street in Lewes. Chairs are provided, and attendees should bring their favorite floor mediation cushions and/or blankets.
